COVID-19 PARENT INFORMATION

We understand that this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone in our community. Our Executive team are monitoring government and Health Department announcements as well as Department of Education decisions. The situation is changing daily and information is being updated frequently. Many events and activities are already cancelled or postponed and the potential for a full closure of the School is possible.

Any updates issued by the School will be posted here to act as a central hub for information.  Parents and guardians will also receive notifications via the mobile app as this is the quickest form of school communication, particularly if the updates are being sent remotely. If parents do not have the mobile app we would strongly suggest you now have this installed on your phone using the instructions below. 

Instructions on installing the new school mobile app (launched in Term 1 2021):

The Lakes Grammar mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices. The App is free and simple to install. The mobile app is custom designed and feeds directly into Parent Lounge so this allows you to do absentees, check the school calendar and very soon we will be switching to paperless permission notes for excursions and events. The mobile app is also a very quick and easy way for us to send notifications home. Often these are also sent via email but at times the mobile app may be the only communication method we use to communicate to parents particularly during an emergency.

To download the mobile app you will simply need to search Lakes Grammar in either the App Store or Google Play Store.

You will need to reset your Parent Lounge password using the link below. It will simply ask for the surname of your account and an email address that is recorded on your account. A verification code will then be emailed. Once you have entered this code into reset password page it will allow you to choose a new password.  Once you are logged in to the mobile app you will remain logged in.

If your account is set-up as split family, you will need to email admin@lakes.nsw.edu.au as we will need to send you separate instructions.  Your Parent Code has also changed slightly with this new system.

Once you have the App installed you can click on the cog icon in the bottom right and choose 'subscriptions' to add/remove the year groups that you wish to receive notifications for.

Dear parents and guardians,


As you would be aware, NSW Health updated the covid advice on Saturday. While the school will remain open for those who are essential workers, we have reduced the number of staff on site as per the recommendations.  The key message from NSW Health is that parents must keep children at home where they can. Students will be supported to learn from home.
If you are an essential worker and your child will be attending, please note the following:

  1. Any student who is displaying even the mildest covid symptoms must remain at home.
  2. The canteen and uniform shop continue to be closed. Please send a nutritious lunch and a water bottle with your child.
  3. If your child is sick, and unable to do school work, please contact the school using our normal processes. Students are required to send a negative result if tested before they return to school.
  4. No visitors on site.
  5. Year 7-12 students must wear masks on site. Years K-6 may do so if they wish.
  6. For those K-6 students who were not able to pick up their book pack collections on Friday, you can do so between 10.00am and 12:00pm Monday, 19 July. 
  7. Please continue to check NSW Health if you wish to see the latest guidelines and hotspots.

Dear Parents and Guardians,


While we have prayed for continuing relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions as we headed into the end of term break, this has clearly not been the case. While we are yet to receive guidance from the NSW Health Department relating to what Term 3 will look like, we do anticipate some clearer details late next week.


However, as we do move to the last week of the holiday break, please be aware of the following:

If we move to online learning from Tuesday 13 July, we will use the same procedures as used in 2020. That is, Teams in the Senior school and Zoom and seesaw in the Junior school. Mrs Smith and Mr Wearne will send details to you all shortly. We are aware that new students may not be familiar with these programs and will send details to you.


If we do return to face-to face teaching, there may well be increased restrictions due to the higher transmissibility of the Delta COVID strain. These may include:

Masks indoors and on transport (including school buses)
No visitors on site
Increased cleaning and hygiene measures
No assemblies, chapels or cross year group activities (such as after school clubs)
Mandated use of QR codes for all adults
No students who have COVID symptoms will be able to attend (or remain) at school. They will need to send a negative COVID test result to the school before returning.
Some upcoming events have been or may be cancelled. The Year 4 and 5 camps have been cancelled. The State of Origin event has been cancelled. 
If required, Kiss and Go in the Junior school will be reinstated to manage the increase in traffic.

Correspondence from the HOJS re: Term 3 for K-6 students


Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,

When school broke up from an eventful Term 2, we were all looking forward to a calm and lively winter break. Sadly, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Greater Sydney including the Central Coast has gone into lockdown. At this current stage we are unaware of how long this lockdown will continue for, and I want to reassure you that the school has several contingency plans in place.


If the lockdown continues into Term 3, all K-6 students will use Zoom for all face-to-face communication and SeeSaw for the uploading and downloading of all work samples. Please note that all Kindergarten and any new students this year will receive further information regarding the use of both these platforms before the commencement of school.


Furthermore, if Term 3 commences with online learning, school attendance will be recorded each morning as it would be if school was taking place on the grounds and that each student should be wearing their school uniform neatly and be positioned in a suitable environment in their household.


I want to highlight that this is a continually evolving situation, we are not entirely sure how Term 3 will begin, however,  we will continue to follow Government guidelines to protect your child’s health and safety.


Finally, I am most excited to join the school community and I am looking forward to meeting you all as the year progresses.

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,

Firstly, I hope you have had some relaxation time and are coping ok with the current lockdown on the Central Coast.


I am just emailing to let you know what the beginning of Term 3 might look like. At this stage we are unsure but there is the possibility that the beginning of Term 3 will be online. If the decision is made by the NSW Government to have schooling online, we will provide all the support needed to help students get online with their learning, so please do not worry! If this is to be the case, we will again use Teams in the Senior School as our online learning platform.


If students feel like online learning is going to be an issue because they don’t:

know how to use TEAMS
have access to a device 
have access to the internet


can you please send an email which outlines any issues you feel you may have.

Due to the cancellation of Cross Country, students are to wear normal school uniform on Friday, 20 March.

We have had a number of enquiries regarding the starting date of online learning. Our online platforms have already been set up, but are not yet available to students.

We are making them progressively available for K – 12 and will send information home later today and tomorrow relating to log in. For consistency, we have chosen two platforms, ‘Seesaw’ in the Junior School and ‘Microsoft Teams’ in the Senior School. 

It is important to understand the school is open and learning is occurring in all classrooms and learning spaces. Please be aware that at this point, teachers are still teaching classes, and the home learning that we can provide at this time will consist of activities that your child can complete to try and keep them up-to-date. 

If the school is closed, there will be opportunity to provide more comprehensive work through these two platforms which will then be our main mode of delivery. 

In the Senior School we are also currently looking at assessment processes, especially for Years 10, 11 and 12 as these students have to meet certain requirements in their studies. More details will follow when they become available. 

We will also be providing additional information about the upcoming NAPLAN practice tests for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in a separate email.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as this process commences. There has been a big effort in the background to make this transition work, while at the same time, to run normal classes. We are also asking that you please be patient with teachers if you have made a request for parent interviews. At the moment, teachers have been asked to concentrate on online lessons as a priority.

• Parent-Teacher interviews – please email your child’s teachers if you would like an update on their progress
• Assemblies and Chapel services, including Term Awards Assemblies and SRC badge presentation with David Harris
• Grandparents’ Day and Easter Chapel services
• All excursions – except Year 3 Porter’s Creek Wetland - as that is on the property next to the school

• PlayCrew (our playgroup that operates in the hall on Tuesday mornings)
