LIBRARY RESOURCES


Lakes Grammar Senior School Library caters for all by making available/services: 

  • Flexible spaces which provide a range of learning environments from quiet study and group collaboration, to soft furnishing reading zones, class, and small group meeting areas. 
  • A print, eBook, and audio book collection of approximately 10,000 resources, with a varied selection of fiction including classic, popular, and new-release titles across all genres selected to encourage a lifelong love of reading and learning. 
  • Subscription services which provide access to online databases, curriculum aligned interactive resourcesand World Book Encyclopedia 
  • HSC Syllabus Summary guides, and a range of literature study guides to supplement the study of novels, plays and poetry in the English classroom. 
  • Opportunities to participate in literature-focused enrichment pursuits, for example the Premier’s Reading Challenge, our in-house Cognito Reading Challenge, CBCA Book Week, special literary events and writing competitions. 
  • Digital technologies which include desktop computers, laptops, data projectorsan interactive LCD screen, and wireless printing on demand from any location on the Senior  School campus. 
  • Information literacy skills development through collaboration with classroom teachers, which is curriculum integrated and connected with the students’ interests and needs. 
  • Blue Room  a sensory specialist lunchtime environment, and Makerspace lunchtime activities. 
  • Chess Club, and student-led Book Club. 
  • Opportunities for school service by assisting the Library staff on a regular basis or organising special events/displays. 
  • A diverse range of University and careers information. 
  • Opening hours of 8.00 am – 4.00 pm Monday to Friday, with extended hours during Terms Two and Three with Study Hall after school from 3:30 pm -5:30 pm.
