Building better futures

MUSIC

Singing, dancing and instrumental music are central to the music program in the Junior School. Kindergarten to Year 6 explore a wide range of musical genres and styles; from medieval dance to contemporary compositions, baroque to electronic dance music, from violin to ukulele and electric guitar. Students enjoy music classes weekly, as well as co-curricular activities. Lunchtime concerts, school performances, talent shows and Performing Arts Festivals are offered to our students and provide opportunities to showcase the talent at Lakes Grammar.

Choir

Singing is an integral part of music at Lakes Grammar and is offered to students in Year 1 – 6. The Year 3-4 and 5-6 Choirs are selective choirs and showcase our school talent at the prestigious IPSHA Performing Arts Festival in the Sydney Town Hall.

String Ensemble

The String Ensemble is a wonderful way for students learning violin, cello and double bass to develop skills in an ensemble with one of the Central Coast’s leading violin tutors, Mrs Amanda Elkington.

Guitar Ensemble

The Guitar Ensemble is a popular group amongst students who learn electric, acoustic and bass guitar. The Music room can often be heard with a rendition of a classic rock song.

Percussion Ensemble

Students learning drum and percussion form the Percussion ensemble and enjoy performing rhythmic pieces for drum lines, junk orchestra and drum circles.
