Students have the opportunity to represent the school in a wide variety of sports. We compete against other Independent, Public and Catholic schools in interschool sports competitions, carnivals and gala day events. For talented and elite athletes, there are pathways to representative selection at the Hunter Region Independent Schools (HRIS), the Association of Independent Co-Ed Schools (AICES) and NSW Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS) levels with ultimate selection in NSW All-Schools or Australian All-Schools teams.

Whether it’s on the court, field, track, pitch or pool, students can make their mark. These sporting opportunities promote the school’s motto of With Heart, Soul, Mind and Strength and give students the chance to develop friendships, teamwork and determination, while enhancing their sense of belonging and wellbeing.

Students participate in swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals. Students also participate in a compulsory weekly sport program every Wednesday in which students have the choice of a wide variety of competitive and recreational sports, on campus and off campus such as: Surfing, AFL, Netball, Swimming, Indoor Sports, Beach Walking/Fitness, Football, Futsal, and many more.  

Sport Facilities

Our Senior Campus includes an indoor multi-purpose court, two outdoor multi-purpose courts, one and half ovals and an outdoor body weight exercise gym station.  

Talented Athlete Program (TAP)

Our TAP Program is offered to students in Years 7-11 and provides students with the help they might require to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills to grow in their sporting and personal lives. Talented athletes at Lakes can access sports psychology, nutrition and leadership sessions through TAP. Sessions may include topics such as fitness profiling & training, goal setting, injury management, mental preparation and relaxation and sports nutrition.
